Trusting a Microfilm Scanning Company

Generation Imaging

Although in today’s economy price has become the main dictator for many when choosing a microfilm scanning company to perform such scanning services as microfilm conversion, microfiche digitizing, aperture card scanning, microfilming, archive writing, paper scanning, and other processes, trust should go a long way as well.

What is trust? For a business-to-business relationship that means Generation Imaging understands that you have deadlines and need a certain standard of quality. Many times in this industry there is confidentially with subcontracting microfilm scanning, and Generation Imaging respects that.

Damian Hospital, who has been the customer service point-man for the last two decades in this industry has never violated confidentiality or gone after end clients for subcontracted microfilm jobs. Damian has never manipulated clients in bid situations and always gives the same price if two or more companies are competing for the same project. Damian is an extension of your production crew, sales team, and technical support.

Dan Gandul’s reputation for honesty and integrity is well known throughout the Florida microfilm scanning production circles- some even say he’s too honest. Dan and Damian both do the right thing when it comes to pricing, service, business ethics, and communication. GI has the personal references to show this.

Damian and Dan are not afraid or shy to put their faces on the front page because Generation Imaging’s whole appeal is that these two men will be 100% responsible for your microfilm project. When it comes to digital imaging technical skill, you can be rest assured that Generation Imaging will bring out the best potential of your images and microfilm.

Dan and Damian have put their reputations on the line with Generation Imaging and they will not let you down.  GI is willing to scan one roll or one microfiche for a small minimum fee, and GI stands ready to scan large volume microfilm and microfiche projects. GI is open-minded and strives for mutually beneficial partnerships.

16mm Kodak Document Archive Writer

16mm archive writingDigital Image to Microfilm Conversion-  If you are looking for analog backup of digital images, Generation Imaging provides 16mm archive writing. A Kodak archive writer can create excellent duplicates of the images on 16mm roll film. Our microfilm processing lab develops the film in accordance with ANSI standards.

Some organizations or government municipalities require a microfilm backup of their digital images (which had been created by document scanning or at some previous time with microfilm scanning). This is usually a requirement for many counties. This digital to microfilm process is called archive writing, and it requires a Kodak archive writer or other type of document archive writer. It also requires a filming lab and the ability to work with chemicals.

16mm archive writers or other methods of microfilming digital images are used to produce a microfilm version of the TIFFs or PDFs, for the purposes of storing the microfilm for long term protection of the information. For example, if you have a microfilm backup, but disaster has struck and you lost the digital images, Generation Imaging can remake the digital images from the microfilm by scanning the microfilm.

A couple of facts about 16mm archive writing that archive writer manufacturers don’t really like to advertise:

There are reduction ratio limitations and document size limitations with 16mm archive writers. Reducing maps or drawings that were originally scanned from 35mm roll film will most likely result in poor quality frames, because the images would have to be resized before sent through the 16mm archive writer. Resizing images to fit the 16mm archive writing process will make text blurry. There are other options, of course, but they require different equipment, so be sure to know the maximum document size of your project.

16mm archive writers will “error out” if they encounter a corrupt TIFF file or PDF file or if there is an oversized image. A corrupt image file has bad tags. Many times they are sub-pages in a multi-page file, and the page cannot display properly. Other times the page can display properly but a fluke happened when the image was created by scanning. Generation Imaging will notify you ASAP if we encounter issues like that and work with you to resolve them.

Anyway, that’s about it when it comes to bumps on the road with archive writing: most projects don’t have corrupt image problems. We just wanted to give you the heads up, and for you to be rest assured that we can find solutions for any of these issues. Generation Imaging can create blipped film for you if your images are grouped in folders or multi-page images. If they are not already grouped, we can even perform indexing functions to break them properly.

We look forward to providing you the 16mm archive writing service.

Aperture Card Scanning

Data PC Cards
Many organizations such as nuclear power plants, engineering firms, city mapping, weapons manufacturers, and counties handle aperture cards on a daily basis to access and use information. Aperture cards usually contain some type of engineering drawings, building blue prints, or title records.

Although handling these old PC data card has been a common practice for years, aperture card scanning technologies has been changing this dynamic. If you use aperture cards to store and retrieve your documents, you are probably thinking there has to be a quicker and more efficient method.

The process of digitizing aperture cards has been around for some time now, good aperture card conversion companies- like Generation Imaging- has the required equipment and knowledge to safeguard your apertures and to achieve the best possible digital conversion results.

Generation Imaging will transfer the data you have on your aperture cards to a digital format, such as TIFF, JPEG, PDF, or other file format. Digital conversion is ideal for storing and retrieving documents.

If you need to convert aperture cards to digital images Generation Imaging will offer you a cost-effective solution. We can convert A- E + size engineering drawings.

What are some sales questions for aperture card scanning? How will the aperture cards be retrieved once in a digital format? Convert aperture cards to PDF or TIFF? Multi-page or single page? Will the hollerith code punches be used to index and name the images? What if there are no hollerith punches? Are the aperture card drawing numbers or name typed on the title of the card and/or on the images themselves? What are the different size drawing contained in the aperture card collection?

All of these questions should be cleared up during the question and answer initial phase of a large aperture card set.

Also, if you subscribe to government bid RFP websites like RFPDepot BidSync or Onvia and others, or you work with counties, cities, state governments, you may come across aperture card scanning portions of a bid. Please keep Generation Imaging in mind to help you out.
